These were done for the in-house magazine of the Fox Sports Network. I tried to inject the non-mainstream colors the art director was going for while at the same time following his request for a Hirschfeld-style line. Results were kind of offbeat and fairly satisfactory, I thought.

This painting was an attempt to recapture/remember a really creepy book cover from childhood years, a library book I once checked out. It was some kind of Weird Tales collection – I have forgotten the title and been unable to track it down, even via amazon.com. (The question “Why would I want to bother” might arise…) I don’t find it to be all that successful as a recreation: the original was more atmospheric and less colorful and the foreground face not so exaggerated. But it was a fun exercise and I’ll make another go of it some time, results to be reported here.
