Eduardo Bertone – Puke Exhibition

Artwork by Eduardo Bertone

Twin Gallery in Madrid presents Bertone´s last show. A humorous and surreal interpretation of the contemporary culture. A world of contrasts between reality and dreams, between suffering and joy. PUKE is an spontaneous reflex that generates a violent and spasmodic expulsion of what upsets you, an act that usually has a pleasing result. A mechanism for expelling ingested poisons out of the body, to clean yourself.

Secret 7″

Artwork by Michelle Thompson

Secret 7″ is a project which aims to rekindle some of the excitement for sleeve art in the digital era by exploring how a track would be interpreted by an array of brilliant artists.

In April the Idea Generation gallery in Shoreditch, London will exhibit around 700 unique seven-inch sleeves inspired by tracks from The Cure, Florence + The Machine, Bombay Bicycle Club, CSS, DJ Shadow, Noah & The Whale and Ben Howard. The exhibition has an added air of mystery as no-one will know who designed each sleeve, or which of our seven tracks is housed inside.

On the 21st April – Record Store Day – through to close on Sunday the exhibition is yours to own. Each of the one-of-a-kind heavyweight 7” records will be available to take home with you for a minimum donation to Teenage Cancer Trust of £40.

ABSOLUT VODKA BLANK EDITION by MARIO WAGNER

Artwork by Mario Wagner

Following the recent ABSOLUT BLANK campaign, ABSOLUT announces the ABSOLUT VODKA BLANK EDITION, designed by German artist Mario Wagner. The limited edition bottle features Wagner’s unique graphic expression, and draws strongly from the artwork he did for the ABSOLUT BLANK initiative a few months ago. The space-inspired BLANK EDITION will be available in seven markets, starting March 2012.

“Being one out of 20 artists to participate in the ABSOLUT BLANK creative movement was very inspiring. ABSOLUT gave us great artistic freedom, and I loved meeting artists from other countries and different creative disciplines. Therefore I was thrilled when I got the opportunity to extend my collaboration with ABSOLUT by creating my own bottle,” says Mario Wagner. “The bottle design is very personal to me, as it expresses my fascination with the idea that we might not be alone in this universe!”

Wagner’s bottle is inspired by the visual language of the 1960s, an era in which the space race and travelling to the moon captivated the world. To ensure continuity, he used some of the visual elements that were also in his artwork for the ABSOLUT BLANK campaign.

“Each visual element has its place,” Wagner explains. “The astronaut is a recurring visual element in my work, and it creates intrigue to the overall piece. With an empty speech bubble I give a voice to the astronaut, but I let the audience decide what he says. There are also celestial bodies, UFOs and the allseeing eye, which represents a person looking at the world from another dimension or place in time.”

“Mario Wagner has created a captivating and imaginary piece of art, and a bottle that will stand out on the shelf. Creating a unique bottle was not part of the initial plan, but we love it when our collaborations evolve into something new. This project beautifully shows how creativity leads our brand forward,” says Mathias Westphal, Global Brand Director at The Absolut Company.

ABSOLUT BLANK is an ABSOLUT collaboration where 20 artists were given a literal ABSOLUT blank bottle shaped canvas, and asked to fill it in with their creativity. Mario Wagner was one of the artists featured in this campaign. His work has been showcased in print, outdoor advertising and TV.

Personal work

Artwork by Tina Zellmer

Whenever Tina Zellmer is inbetween assignments (and when it is bad weather outside), she is trying to get some personal work done.
This time she was playing around with mixed materials:
black pencil drawings, old collages, marmoring, acrylic paint, coloured pencils and photoshop in the end.
Here are some of the results.
