Andrea Ucini’s comical depiction of someone who’s afraid of the water shows a man who doesn’t know how to swim contemplating going into the water.
Ucini delves into the fear that keeps some people out of the water in his conceptual illustration of a man on the edge wearing a diving suit and a duckie floatation device around his waist. Contemplating what lurks underneath, and feeling his fear, the man hesitates to enter the water.
Ucini uses color–the water goes from green to pitch black–and scale, to illustrate what may be unforeseen in the water below. The illustrator asks, “What’s keeping you out of the water?”
