Katy Lemay Wins the CALQ Prize – Artist of the Year in Laval
Illustrator and visual artist Katy Lemay was honored on June 9, 2025, with the CALQ Prize – Artist of the Year in Laval, which comes with a $10,000 grant.
This prestigious award, presented by André Racette, Director of Support for Outreach and International Recognition at the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ), was announced during a special evening hosted by Culture Laval at Collège Montmorency.
Widely recognized for her poetic collages, memory-driven installations, and illustration work (featured in Rolling Stone, Oprah Magazine, and by Canada Post), Katy Lemay stands out for her unique artistic approach, rooted in collective memory, visual heritage, and intimate storytelling.
This award highlights the originality of her journey, the impact of her work within the Laval community, and the strength of her artistic research—at the crossroads of illustration, visual arts, and cultural mediation.
