Nathan Hackett / Wall Street Journal / I used to Think that Babies were Chunder-Spewing Bores

Nathan Hackett

Nathan was asked by the Wall Street Journal to illustrate for an article where Henry Alford tells the story of how he has come to understand the appeal of babies.
The writer began his transformation with thinking babies were ‘chunder-spewing bores’, interrupting his anecdotes at parties and winning the competition for attention from his friends and colleagues. Now, with time and gradual weathering of the authors ‘snark’, his views have shifted and their baby charm has won him over.
The illustration for the article reflected the humour of Alford’s writings by depicting him at the start of his journey and meeting the baby who derailed his story with the ‘purple chunder’.
