Nathan Hackett / Feature Illustrations/ The GuardianSurvival Guide to Christmas

Nathan Hackett was asked to illustrate for the Guardian’s Saturday magazine for the Lifestyle section and a feature about particularly awkward and tense problems encountered over the Christmas season and how to overcome them.

The feature included different scenarios that were depicted in the opening and spot illustrations, including examples like family members fighting over their political differences, how to manage a partner not joining in with the christmas spirit or a sibling that spends much more on christmas than you can afford.

The illustration brief needed characters and scenes that injected humour and colour into the article that would help people navigate through the very useful and very relatable difficulties that we all face over the season.
