Agathe Bray-Bourret / Dwell magazine / The death of the bar cart

For Dwell magazine, Agathe BB was asked to imagine how the bar cart could be used after one stopped drinking.
“Five years ago, I got sober and had no idea what to do with my beloved vintage midcentury bar cart. I kept it around for a year, using it to display tinctures and incense, but ultimately got rid of it, failing to find a real utility for my once-beloved piece. Some of my recent reporting on the rise of sober curiosity—and the reality that young people aren’t very into drinking—got me thinking about how this is manifesting in architecture and design. Is the once beloved wet bar less and less common in new builds? How do interior designers tackle the problem of the “bar” for sober clients?”
