Belicta Castelbarco was commissioned by Psychologie Magazine to create a vibrant, conceptual series of illustrations for an in-depth feature exploring self-doubt, decision-making, and the psychological “doubt reflex.” Blending analog vintage portraiture with contemporary digital collage, Castelbarco’s artwork visualizes the complex internal landscape of overthinking. The striking compositions feature rich, expressive color palettes, swirling abstract thoughts, symbolic navigational motifs (such as compasses, crossroads, and tangled mazes), and layered paper textures. Through her unique collage technique, Belicta brilliantly captures the emotional friction of hesitation and the journey toward mental clarity and self-trust.
