Esteban Plazibat / Renfe / 20th Short Story Competition 2026

Renfe commissioned Esteban Plazibat to create the illustration and poster design for the 20th edition of its Short Story Competition.

The campaign was designed to encourage railway passengers to participate in the competition by submitting their own short stories.

The creative concept revolves around the figure of the story observer, a character who quietly watches the life unfolding around them. Through the perspective of an open train carriage, this observer encounters a cast of distinctive characters and everyday situations rich with narrative potential. By imagining the thoughts and stories behind each passenger, every journey becomes an endless source of inspiration.
