Nathan Hackett / Harvard Magazine / Why Humans Walk on Two Legs

Nathan illustrated for an article in Harvard Press about how humans came to walk on two legs, and the breaking discovery by Terence Capellini, a professor of human evolutionary biology, and Gayani Senevirathne, postdoctoral fellow, into the evolutionary development of humans unique pelvis.
The research has pointed to humans and their separation from our ancestors by how our pelvis differs from other primates and perhaps helped us settle into different climates, travel longer distances with our new bipedal abilities, be born with bigger brains and other theorised evolutionary developments.
Nathan illustrated a take on the famous March of Progress visual and showed the researchers measuring and collecting the data that informed their discover. The image was a friendly introduction to the story to make it accessible and quickly communicate the broad themes by using semantic language the reader would be have been familiar with.
