Nathan Hackett / Readers Digest / Irrational Fears by Readers
Nathan was asked by the Readers Digest to illustrate for a feature in their October issue where readers wrote in with their strangest phobias and most irrational fears.
The stories were humorous and comical, and included a reader who developed a fear of snapping turtles that resurfaced mid-jump into a lake from a bridge with her friends in her 20’s, as well as another reader who had a fear of sunflowers since being lost in a field of them after having watched ‘Day of the Triffids’.
The illustrations focused on a frozen dramatic moment of the readers dramatised fear to accentuate the ridiculousness of irrational fears and treat the senselessness of the scenarios with silly seriousness.
