Roberto Cigna / The Parmigianer – The Cataneser / The New Yorker tribute

Roberto Cigna

Illustrator Roberto Cigna was selected to create two tribute covers inspired by the iconic visual language of The New Yorker, celebrating two remarkable Italian cities: Parma and his hometown of Catania.

Through evocative visual storytelling, the project aims to promote the unique identity, architecture, traditions, and artistic legacy of Italy’s diverse regions.

Roberto’s covers capture the spirit and character of both Parma and Catania, transforming their landscapes and cultural landmarks into compelling editorial illustrations. By blending contemporary illustration with local heritage, the project highlights how art can preserve memory, foster cultural appreciation, and strengthen the connection between people and place.

These tribute covers stand as a celebration of Italian culture, city identity, and the enduring power of illustration to tell meaningful stories about communities and their histories.
