Andy Potts / BBC Science Focus

Andy Potts has created a new 3d cover illustration and animation for BBC Science Focus for the print magazine and Apple News Plus version. The 15 second cover animation was storyboarded first with the final print illustration evolving as the animation was created. The theme was exploration, Where Next?, and the brief required a central explorer character surveying a cinematic scene composed of the destinations covered in the issue, from pyramids to asteroids. Andy built the scene in Cinema 4d and animated the 3d camera move before compositing cloud, sky and space scenery in After Effects.
