Beethoven Weekend – Barbican Guide

Chris Madden was commissioned by Barbican Guide Magazine to illustrate a feature about Ludwig Van Beethoven in the February 2020 issue. The Barbican Centre is hosting a ‘Beethoven weekender’ and tasked Chris to ‘Get inside the mind of a musical revolutionary’.

Art Director, James Drury, wanted the image to make references to Beethoven’s life and career while allowing Chris to approach the brief in a very playful and abstract way. It was a lot of fun and Chris would love to flex his abstract muscles a lot more in the future.
