For this project, Mai Ly Degnan was commissioned to create an illustration for an article about how everything on Amazon is becoming an ad. In this illustration, the customer is shopping for cat sweaters, but almost every “highly rated” listing is actually a paid for ad by the company behind the product. This article is about how Amazon is strategically behind the kinds of products we first see when searching for something to purchase.
