Miguel Monkc was selected finalist along with other 42 illustrators (1,026 total entrants) among the most prominent in the region. These five illustrations were presented to the 10th “Iberoamérica Ilustra” illustration contest celebrated in December 2019.
The series tells the story of a teenager traveling on vacation with his grandmother to the Peruvian Amazon jungle. The boy decides to take a trip alone to the forest and escapes with two natives of the Huni-Kuin people. The two boys show him the beauties of the jungle, how they hunt and grow their own food. Finally the boy returns to his grandmother. He feels happy because he learned beautiful things from these communities and his rapport with Mother Earth.
