Sébastien Thibault was commissioned by The Guardian to illustrate an opinion piece written by Jacinda Ardern, the New Zealand PM, calling on nuclear-armed nations to disarm to coincide with a non-proliferation treaty summit in New York.
The challenge was to humanize the nuclear pressure exerted by the leaders on each other with an eye-catching idea.

The world can still step back from the abyss. The nuclear weapon states – the US, Russia, China, France and the UK – must lead the way
