Van Saiyan was commissioned by The Washington Post Magazine for a cover and opener illustration in a special issue about American politicians, how 2022 became the year of over-the -top masculinity on the campaign trail. They asked him for some fun, a fighting scene or something more conceptual about this breed of political masculinity .Van enjoyed this commission because he loves superhero comics and he wanted to show the characters like “He-man” politics.
